I originally wrote the blog post “Twitter Lost 15,000 of my Followers” two days ago with the hope of venting my frustration. Well that all changed when I woke up this morning to see that my Account had a big red band across the top that read:

“Account Suspended. This account is currently suspended and is being investigated due to strange activity. If we have suspended your account mistakenly, please let us know. See Suspended Accounts for more information.” (Copied from Twitter)

I proceeded to read some of the details on the page and it said that my account could be suspended for up to 30 days. I thought about it for several hours this morning and finally decided to post like crazy to peeps I had met on Twitter, using another Twitter account I had previously set up: @SoCalHouses.

Remember, I had been sending @Ev replies for the last few days because my account had been down for seven days. Needless to say, someone posted an @Ev reply and with all the activity, he responded and said he was looking into the problem. My account was active in less than two hours. He “Direct Messaged (DM’d) me and asked me to email him (I’m still waiting for his reply as I write this).

I pursued this route since I am not a spammer, and I knew Twitter could look back in my history to see that I was legitimate. I am very grateful to have this behind me. My thanks to @Ev, @Twitter and all of my peeps!

One positive outcome from this experience is that I now share my lessons learned to share with you that may help you avoid some of the frustration I went through.

What You Give You Get Back. My apologies for those of you that took it personally when I stopped following you. Obviously, it wasn’t my fault. But think about it. How many times does something like this happen to someone and we then just write that person off thinking they don’t want to have anything more to do with us? We can’t always control everything that happens to us and most of us don’t do things intentionally to hurt people.

Technology isn’t perfect. That includes social networking communication tools. It’s important to build your relationships here on Twitter, but also to move them to other platforms, so if there is a glitch it doesn’t impact you as severely.

I had so many wonderful comments from peeps. Thank you for caring!

Help Ticket
“I still sit here with loosing 15000K followers last Thursday with no response….I can’t follow peeps and peeps can’t follow me. I would surely appreciate some help. @aheartforgod also lost 22000K followers. You can’t tell me all our followers were spam, when I hand selected 90% of the peeps myself. It would be real nice to have this resolved. This is the 3rd time I have posted on this forum. I have sent @replies to @ev @Twitter too. Thanks @KarriannGraf

Awesome Fan Responses that I have received on Twitter and my Profile page of Facebook.

“Wow, I lost a couple hundred people recently but not thousands like you did. i hope you get it resolved soon!”

“Hey there, Karriann. What a bummer to lose your followers like that! I am disappointed to hear that you’re not getting any response from twitter. I lost about 600 followers at that same time. What puzzles me is WHY did twitter break the connection between us? Neither of us are spammers… and yet we’re no longer following each other. I tried to … follow you just now, but when I go back to your profile… I am not! And you don’t show in my following list either! Soooo, I really do want to be connected on Twitter – hopefully this will be fixed soon!”

“Sorry for the Twitter goof that lost you 15K peeps. I just sent a shout out for you.”

“Can’t believe you lost 15K followers. Your info is SO GOOD. How about a tweet-in campaign? (like write in)”

Plus many more….some people have taken it personal that I stopped following them. I posted this on my Facebook profile Please follow me on Twitter…please don’t take it personal if we aren’t following each other currently….I lost 15000 followers last week. I appreciate all of you =0) http://twitter.com/KarriannGraf
