When Twitter first came out with the “Lists” feature no one really knew what it was for or how to use it. As time went on, we learned that lists are a valuable tool to organize the people – peeps – we follow. We do this by creating lists and putting our peeps on one or more of these lists. Then you can click on one of your lists to see what those specific people on that list have been tweeting about. This also makes a large group of people you follow more manageable for you.
It’s easiest to group people if the lists reflect something about the peep – things they have in common. For example, if they’re located in the same city as you are, and you just want to keep track of what people nearby are saying, you might make a list called whatever your city name is. For me that would be Key West. So I created a list called Key West : @KarriannGraf/key-west, showing that it’s my list by automatically including my name first. You may not see your name on your lists, but other users will see it this way.
Here are some other ideas for lists: family, technology (gurus), social media (specialists), family (members), and so on.
Here’s a video I made to show you just how simple it is to create a Twitter list and add your peeps to them.
If you have any questions about Twitter lists please post them here and I’ll be sure to answer them.
