According to http://blog.twitter.com/2010/02/measuring-tweets.html [February 2, 2010]: “Folks were tweeting 5,000 times a day in 2007. By 2008, that number was 300,000, and by 2009 it had grown to 2.5 million per day. Tweets grew 1,400% last year to 35 million per day. Today, we are seeing 50 million tweets per day—that’s an average of 600 tweets per second.”
Now that’s a lot of Tweets and a lot of Tweet Peeps!
So how do you narrow down the field and find people you want to follow? One of the best ways I’ve found is using the “Twellow” application – the “Yellow Pages” for Twitter.
Here’s how it works. If you input a word search in Twellow, it checks out all the Twitter bios and lists all the people who have this word in their bio. You can link to your Twitter account and Twellow shows you who you are, and aren’t, following. You can click to follow someone directly in Twellow, and that links directly to your Twitter account.
For your businesses, this is a quick and easy way to target people in your market, or potential customers or clients, or anyone Tweeting on topics that might be of interest to you.
Please view my video on how Twellow works, try it out and please let me know how it goes. If you think this was a great video please press the ReTweet Button in the top left corner.
